Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a battery system and how does it work?

A home battery system stores the excess energy your solar panels generate during the day—energy that would otherwise be sent back to the grid. This stored power can then be used in the evening or during peak tariff times, giving you more control over your electricity usage and lowering your energy bills. Think of it as your personal energy bank.

2. Why get a solar battery now?

Electricity prices are rising, while solar feed-in tariffs (what you earn from exporting excess power) are falling. A solar battery allows you to use more of your own solar energy, reducing your reliance on the grid and protecting you from future price hikes. Plus, government rebates are currently at their peak but will reduce over time—so there’s never been a better moment to invest.

3. How much does a solar battery cost?

The cost of a solar battery system ranges from $5,000 to $15,000 after rebates, depending on the size, brand, and features. We offer tailored solutions to fit every budget, and our team ensures you receive all available rebates and incentives.

4. Can I add a battery to my existing solar system?

Absolutely. Most existing solar systems can be retrofitted with a battery. Our experts will assess your current system and provide the best-fit battery options based on your energy needs and future plans.

5. How much warranty does a home battery come with?

Most quality home batteries come with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty, ensuring peace of mind and long-term performance.

6. Will a battery save me money?

Yes. A correctly sized and professionally installed battery can significantly reduce your power bills. It charges using excess solar power during the day and supplies your home when the sun isn’t shining—helping you avoid buying expensive electricity from the grid.

7. Can a battery work during a blackout?

Yes, but only if your system includes blackout protection or backup functionality. Not all batteries support this feature, so we’ll help you choose a model that keeps your essential appliances running during outages.

8. What brands do you offer?

We’re brand-neutral, which means we recommend the right solution based on your unique needs. We supply and install top-tier brands like Sigenergy, Sungrow, Anker, AlphaESS, SAJ, and more—each with unique strengths and customisation options.

9. Is there any government rebate or incentive?

Yes! From July 1, 2025, the Australian Government’s Cheaper Home Battery Program offers a 30% rebate on eligible home battery systems. We’re fully registered with the Clean Energy Regulator (CER), which means we can apply the rebate directly to your quote. Note: This rebate decreases annually, so acting early guarantees you the highest savings.

10. How long does installation take?

Installation typically takes one day, carried out by fully licensed, CEC-accredited electricians based right here in South Australia. Due to high demand, there is currently a 12-week lead time, but we offer a goodwill credit when you place your order to thank you for your patience.

11. How do I choose the right battery size?

We make it easy. Our team reviews your energy usage, solar generation, and long-term goals to recommend the optimal battery size and type for your home or business—ensuring you don’t overpay or underpower.

12. What happens on cloudy days or in winter?

Your system is designed with seasonal variation in mind. On cloudy days or during winter, if your solar production is low and your battery is depleted, you’ll automatically draw power from the grid. However, we typically size systems slightly larger to ensure they meet your needs year-round and give you the best possible return on investment—even in less sunny months.
